Every place starts as a public record, not a recommendation. Clear evidence earns a stronger label, and missing evidence stays visible instead of being guessed.
Trust is something you can inspect.
When a dietary filter shows a place, the badge tells you whether the evidence came from the venue or a published menu. Dates and source links help you decide how much confidence to place in it today.
What you can expect
- Clear labels. Verified by venue, menu evidence, public record, or needs review.
- Fresh context. We show when a source was last checked and avoid making old information look permanent.
- Room for corrections. A venue or visitor can point out a change without erasing the history behind the original record.
- Respect for uncertainty. An unknown dietary status is more useful than an overconfident guess.
How venues can correct information
Open a place in Explore and choose Send feedback for review. Include a current menu link, a date, or what the venue confirmed. We keep the report for review and do not silently turn it into a public claim.

BasedBite begins with public Danish food-safety records and map information, then looks for a venue's own public website or menu. These sources help us find places; they do not automatically prove that a dish is vegan.

Why some places are unverified
Menus change, websites can be incomplete, and a plant-based description is not always enough to confirm ingredients. A place can be worth exploring and still have an unknown dietary status. That is why our map keeps discovery and verification separate.
